Expressionist Natural way

From the How to Paint Like the Old Masters book, by Joseph Sheppard, I learned that to create a natural realism painting I need to make so many layers, one classic realism painting requires more than 10 layers, but so far all that I can afford is 5 to 7 layers, it’s because I’m easy to get bored! sometimes it takes more than a month to finish a painting, I think it’s not good for my spirit and my mood if I stuck too long in a painting, but if I switch to a new painting I can feel a new energy to keep on painting, so that’s why I limit myself for taking too long for a painting.

I’ve been learning how to paint for about 2 years, at first I learned from a famous artist, but the artist didn’t teach the students hard and let the student paint whatever they liked. after that, I met other artist who taught me about how to paint in realism and natural way, I loved the lesson, but it was hard at the beginning cause it took 4 hours to create one layer of the painting and when I got home I thought the paint was really ugly (because it was the 1#layer), but then after a month I began to see the result and then I knew that to make a realism paint took a lot of work hard and patience.

Van Gogh and Monet are my favorite artists, what I like from expressionism and impressionism is the mixing of colour and  the brush stroke techniques, I hope someday I will master it, but for now I use my teacher’s style in my painting and I like to call it the expressionist natural way.
